How to play Minesweeper
- Each number shows how many mines are in the 8 squares around it.
- Your first click is never a mine and always opens an area.
- Flag the squares where you are sure there is a mine.
- Tap a number that already has all its flags to open its neighbours at once (chording).
- You win when every safe square is open. Your record is your fastest time on each level.
Tips to beat your high score
- A 1 next to a single closed square means that square is a mine.
- Look for the 1-2-1 pattern on an edge: the mines are under the ones.
- Start from the corners of open areas, where there are fewer unknowns.
Medals
Earn medals by reaching these scores on the default difficulty (harder ones have their own medals): 🥉 ≤ 120 s · 🥈 ≤ 60 · 🥇 ≤ 30. Every medal also gives you XP to rank up.
Why is Minesweeper so addictive?
Minesweeper is pure logic with a hint of suspense: every click is a small bet you can reduce to zero if you think it through. Beating your own time is irresistible.
Frequently asked questions
Is the first click always safe?
Yes. Mines are placed after your first click, away from that square, so it always opens an area.
How do I place a flag on a phone?
Long-press a square, or tap the “Mode: dig” button to switch to flag mode.
What are the board sizes?
Easy is 9×9 with 10 mines, Medium is 12×12 with 24 mines and Hard is 16×16 with 40 mines.
